What are the wardrobe rooms? Photos with design projects
Modern interior design is increasingly striving for minimalism, in which there is room only for functional things. This principle comes down to freeing up space from unnecessary objects. In particular, this also applies to the storage system: numerous cabinets, chests of drawers, cabinets and wardrobe, which previously tried to fill the free space, today are replaced by functional wardrobe rooms. Useful and comfortable dressing rooms design projects whose photos are presented below are finding more and more fans.
Kinds
When renting apartments in new houses, the design of the dressing room was laid in them initially. It is a separate room in the corridor, bedroom or living room. Projects of private home ownership often contain a dressing room on the ground floor, in the basement. If the project was not laid down during the construction of the house, it can be equipped anywhere in the apartment with the help of design ideas for planning and placement. In this case, you can choose one of the types of wardrobe: open, or closed.
Open
The design project of an open dressing room implies the absence of any partitions or doors between it and the rest of the room, the storage system as if continues the interior of the room in which it is located. The advantages of this type are:
- things and accessories are always at hand, in the visible zone;
- with a small area of the apartment, it is possible to organize an original and convenient storage system without doors;
- skillful design project of the wardrobe room, examples in the photo are presented below, an open type is able to visually increase the room in which it is located.
However, an open storage system has its drawbacks:
- personal belongings are visible not only to the owners, but also to the guests of the house;
- careless storage of clothes and accessories is not allowed, as this will immediately spoil the appearance of the room, make a general mess.
Closed
The design of the closed-type wardrobe room project involves its placement in a special niche or separate room, separated from the rest of the room by partitions or doors. Such a storage system gives vent to imagination, allowing you to design a dressing room in accordance with individual tastes and wishes, starting from the type, design of doors, ending with the style design, layout of layout and individual decorative elements of the interior of this room for clothes.
Closed storage has the following advantages:
- frees the living area from the accumulation of various clothes, shoes and accessories, hiding them from prying eyes behind a stylish screen or doors;
- it is not necessary to store things on shelves and hangers in perfectly even rows and in accordance with the color, so as not to introduce dissonance into the surrounding interior - all this is hidden behind the partition;
- a large dressing room is able to accommodate absolutely all things and shoes even of a large family, thereby freeing up living space from unnecessary items;
- even in a small closed wardrobe, you can try on things and change clothes without disturbing the rest of the family;
- closed storage system with a large mirror will turn into a full toilet room.
A similar room is not without its drawbacks:
- The layout of the apartment should have a pre-designed closed dressing room, since further placement of this type of storage system may cause difficulties. In particular, it is sometimes difficult to separate any part of the living room into a separate room with doors, and often this requires legal registration of redevelopment of the apartment;
- It is very important to consider the availability of additional multifaceted lighting for a closed storage system;
- this type of wardrobe can significantly reduce the area of the living room both physically and visually.
If there is no project of a closed dressing room in terms of an apartment, it is necessary to consider its placement and layout at least before the beginning of the overhaul, and not after.
Layout
With skillful planning, a full-fledged wardrobe room can be placed in any room of the apartment, even the most compact. The type of layout can be selected in accordance with the type of premises and individual preferences, the following layouts of storage systems are distinguished:
- angular;
- linear
- n shaped;
- parallel.
The corner layout is suitable for any size of the room, as well as any type of dressing room - both open and closed. In accordance with the name, cabinets and shelves are located in the corner of the room. The visual zoning of such a wardrobe is made using sliding doors, if it is closed, or different from the rest of the room, by the type of design of the floor and wall surfaces.
For corner layouts, open shelves and hangers are often used, as well as corner drawers. To clothes on the shelves did not look messy, stylish baskets and wardrobe trunks are used. The corner layout is convenient in that it can occupy any free corner of the room, whether it be a corridor, a bedroom or a living room, regardless of the size of the area. Such a layout is especially relevant in the design of small wardrobe rooms.
A linear layout is used when placing a wardrobe in a niche or near a blank wall. At the same time, it can be separated from the rest of the room by sliding doors like a sliding wardrobe or in other ways:
- gypsum board partition with integrated door;
- tight curtain on the ledge.
Or the wardrobe can remain open, as often happens when decorating an apartment in the loft style. A home wardrobe, decorated with a P-shaped layout, is often found in long bedrooms, when both parts of the room are balanced by the division into a sleeping area, as well as a storage area with a partition or screen. With this method, the dressing room occupies three adjacent walls, one of them may even have a window - in this case, the wall is decorated with open shelves or low chests of drawers.
Layout in a parallel way involves the location of cabinets, shelves or hangers along two walls opposite each other. This method can be used if the room is spacious enough and wide, because it requires at least 50 cm for the convenience of opening cabinet doors or pulling out drawers located opposite each other. Different types of layouts are presented in the photo design projects of wardrobe rooms.
Filling
It is necessary to fill the wardrobe room with furniture and storage places in accordance with the functional affiliation:
- rods for outerwear must be present, located at least 1.5 meters above the floor;
- rods for dresses, shirts, blouses, located at a height of not less than 1 meter;
- the presence of scrubs is required;
- for storage of shoes, you can use open shelves or shoe racks with closed doors;
- drawers for storing linen, socks, small items of clothing;
- hats can be stored in baskets or drawers located on shelves;
- for storage of accessories you can provide hooks or small rods, as well as boxes.
Accordingly, the place of storage is chosen for the items of clothing: shoes should be located below, hats on the upper shelves, clothes - in the middle on bars, shelves or drawers.
Filling a small dressing room can be completed with a full-length mirror, as well as a bench, and if the room allows, you can place a small sofa, coffee or dressing table. Part of the dressing room is complemented by an ironing board attached to one of the walls of the cabinets. Thus, it is quite simple to do the filling of the wardrobe room with your own hands, purchasing components individually or as a single set.
Lighting and decoration
Any type of room with a dressing room should be equipped with good lighting. This means that there should be a lot of light, while it should not distort colors. An ideal option would be the presence of central lighting in the form of a chandelier, as well as spot lighting, organized by numerous small ceiling lights. Thus, a soft, diffused light that does not leave shaded areas. If the wardrobe is open, it is possible to install a light panel.
It is important that lighting fixtures illuminate each of the storage compartments.
The design of the open locker room should be made in accordance with the style direction of the rest of the interior. The presence of photos with examples of dressing rooms design will help determine the style. A closed dressing room leaves the will of imagination, but, given the functionality of the room, it is advisable to design it in the style of minimalism, classic or loft.
Common scheduling errors
In order for the storage system to be convenient, accurate, and maximally functional, it is necessary to avoid mistakes that are often made during planning. Among them are the following miscalculations:
- the smaller the area of the room, the more open shelves and hangers there should be. Often, everything is done the other way around;
- if the furniture is purchased before the layout, as well as the size of the dressing room, is planned, it may simply not fit inside or fit in color, style;
- do not make out the dressing room with a color scheme or style that is completely opposite to the rest of the design of the living area;
- in order not to get lost in your dressing room, it is necessary at the planning stage to mark out the location of outerwear and the rest of the wardrobe, and also to separate the place for storing women's and men's clothes;
- the number of hangers and clothes rods should exceed the number of shelves and racks.
An ill-conceived ventilation and lighting system will turn even the most spacious, stylish wardrobe room into a stuffy closet.
