Style features
A suitable room for restaurants or cafes in the loft style is the attic or the top floor of the building. The loft in the interior is characterized by the presence of free space without partitions, ceilings or other structures. The division into zones is carried out by means of interior elements, competent lighting, flooring or wall coloring, without additional structures.
Interior details can be any pipe communications, ventilation openings not hidden in walls, trusses or beams, as well as massive columns. Brickwork, walls without finishing or rough plaster are especially appreciated. For the design of the loft style in the interior, the clarity of forms, geometry is welcome. Horizontal or vertical lines are preferred, they are subject to the main structure of the building. Manufactory buildings were distinguished by simple and laconic windows and rectangular doors. Large windows, if possible, are decorated outside with street lamps.
For the purpose of interior decoration, abstract paintings are used, as well as graffiti, which is often found on street walls, or even road signs, signs with house numbers, street names. The paintings are usually placed on the floor and lean against the wall.
The loft style in furniture is characterized by a variety of forms, materials. Creative people strive for comfort, so upholstered furniture is, of course, the central element of the interior. The sofa, necessarily large, is located at a certain distance from the wall, as well as other furniture. Style in loft furniture involves the use of ottomans, benches and other convenient items, however, the use of elements of one headset is inappropriate. It is better if they are objects that vary in color and texture.
Varieties
When designing a loft style, various types of furniture can be used, each of which has its own characteristics:
- cabinet - most often used tables, chests of drawers, chairs and whatnots, which must be made of wood. No loft-style chipboards are applicable.Whether it’s a dining table, cupboard or chairs - they should not clutter up the space, which means it is worth choosing compact and simple models in design. In addition to wood, glass, metal and plastic can be used to make furniture. Cabinet furniture is used most often, since in this style it is customary to move structures away from the wall, forming the so-called islands. That is why instead of tall cabinets it is better to choose chests of drawers;
- modular - such furniture in the loft style is rarely used, since it is very difficult to find headsets of this design. Most often, individual designs are selected, from which a single room style is formed;
- built-in - cabinets and walk-in closets located in niches or corners for this style are common. The only requirement is that the facade of the structure should be decorated with suitable materials. If this is photo printing, then the picture should fully correspond to the same style, but it is better to leave sandblasting drawings for other interiors, since they will look out of place in the loft;
- soft - furniture made of genuine leather fits perfectly into this style, but since not everyone can afford it, other upholstery materials can be used, supplemented by various elements made of plastic and metal. In addition to the usual sofas and armchairs, in the loft style there can be many ottomans, a wide variety of shapes and colors. Now furniture for cafes in a similar style is very popular, it is also purchased in bars and other institutions.
Which materials are better
Loft style is not limited by clear requirements, the main thing is convenience, simplicity, creativity. Nevertheless, a leather sofa is considered a classic of loft aesthetics, upholstered leather furniture occupies a central place in the design of the room. Metal furniture, along with wooden, leather, is also popular. The room should be furnished with strong, durable objects that can be stored in attics, and not thrown away due to the fact that they have become unusable.
Unplastered brick walls or concrete rough walls combine perfectly with metal objects: cast-iron columns, steel beams or other objects of production equipment. Coarse wooden boards, which are used as flooring, fit into the general situation.
Another required loft material is glass. Partitions from glass blocks, large-scale windows, furniture are made of it. An interesting solution is full or partial glazing of the roof.
Loft-style furniture is a combination of practicality and conciseness. Heavy tables, chairs are equipped with wheels, which make it easy to move them if necessary. Instead of voluminous cabinets, chests of drawers, metal hangers, open racks are used. Items used in everyday life, as well as household utensils, are hidden from prying eyes.
In addition to traditional materials: leather, stainless steel, aluminum, wood - plastic is very often used. It should be noted that plastic products are modern and quickly break, so their use is possible, but not desirable.
How to use in the interior
Furniture is not only used as decor, but also performs the function of zonal demarcation. Examples from the loft photo will help to correctly place accents and create a harmonious composition. How to furnish a room based on its purpose?
Kitchen and dining area
The kitchen is of secondary importance, it is assigned a small area of living space, and it is located inside the common area. The kitchen resembles a food intake point of the last century: massive countertops or racks, bar stools with high backs, a minimum of household appliances and original dishes. The decor uses old photographs and pots with hanging plants. An antique stylized refrigerator perfectly complements the overall style.
Living room
It is complemented by a massive sofa, accommodating a large number of guests and a coffee table. Velvet or leather upholstery, fluffy long-rug rug are real decorations of the room, also a fireplace, or at least its imitation, is well suited for the living room. For a joint pastime, it is advisable to equip the room with a home theater or a modern audio system.
Bedroom
This is the only place that can be fenced with a mobile screen or an opaque partition; a small chest of drawers can also be used for this purpose. As a rule, when decorating a bedroom, you should adhere to the trends of minimalism, it should also be remembered that the loft bedroom does not guarantee privacy.
A high bed, decorated with a wrought-iron headboard and legs, is complemented by brutal bedside tables. Nearby there is a secluded reading place consisting of a small table and a lamp. The duo is complemented by a comfortable rocking chair.
When decorating a loft, you need to remember that it is complemented only by the most necessary objects, you should also limit the use of interior decoration elements. A variety of trinkets, souvenirs and other sentimental gizmos are absolutely inappropriate here.
